MARK SHERMAN MUSIC
08.04.10 | Mark Aaron Hi, Mark --
I took a vibraphone lesson with you a few years ago. I've just purchased a used Jenco vibes (probably from the '50's). Do you have any advice on how to clean it? -- Aluminum polish? A buffing wheel? Do I need to worry about altering the bars or throwing them out of tune in cleaning them?
I'd appreciate any advice you might have, and I'll look forward to seeing you again soon for another lesson.
Best,
Mark Aaron

10.21.09 | Mary (Miriam) Sundheim Hi Mark,
I don\'t know if you remember me, but I met you at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pa back in 1974 or so. I went with you to New York a couple of times, and you introduced me to the musci of some jazz musicians like Art Blakey and Elvin Jones. I enjoyed hanging out with you. How are you doing? I am enjoying family life and I actually play accoustic guitar and sing lots of standards. I would love to hear from you and see if you do remember me.

08.24.09 | jason raso Hello Mark,
My name is Jason Raso. I am a musician (bassist) from Ontario, Canada. I am currrently working on my new CD. This is my seventh release, but my first "real" jazz album. I am very excited about this new project.
I have 3 songs that I would love to have vibes on. I was wondering if there was anyway I could hire you to play on this project. I realize this a long shot, but I figured "why not shoot for the best?". I would be very honoured if you would even give these tracks a listen. I would also totally understand if you decided not to.
If this is a possiblilty, I would have my engineer send you the tracks and you could overdub your tracks at your studio.
You can hear some of my work at www.myspace.com/jasonrasotrio
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Jason Raso

08.07.09 | Jason Bye I am a photographer from denver, In 2006 I was the primary photographer at the denver jazz fest and per your request I was nice enough to send a disc of all the images from that event to you. Since then many of these images have been used on your site and as promotional shots that have been published on other site and possibly print sources too. I don't normaly work for free and all I would ask is for credit of my work. It's hard for me to use clips from your site or from other sites that have published my work without credit. Normally I charge a minimum of $200 and I would likely charge more for an event like the jazz fest. I sent you the photo's to benifit us both so I would appreciate it if in the future you could give me credit for my work .
Thank you

10.30.08 | Debbie Contini Mark,
Thank you for stopping by. I just completed the grant proposal I planned on submitting to the principals for signing.
However, I just received this message below from Max's mom. Max is my 1st chair trumpet player and is quite a good musician. I am deeply concerned about his strong feelings regarding what occurred during rehearsal last night and will make a point of speaking to his mom personally today Although this project seemed to suit our needs very nicely, I wonder if the other students feel the same as I do. They are, needless to say, the reason I love my job here at Haldane and the ones who most clearly determine my ultimate decisions and direction.
Please allow me the time to make more inquiries and seek more advice from my supervisors before we continue with this venture.
Sincerely,
Debbie

Subject: Jazz band
Hi Mrs. Contini,
I am really concerned about Max and this evening's Jazz band class.
He doesn't tell me a whole lot about school these days but he sure
had a lot to say tonight during the ride home. He is completely
humiliated because of what this new person helping out tonight had to
say about his guitar playing. Max also feels badly about how this
person treated his friend Stefano and this person's overall criticism
of the class.
Who is this person and why is he trying to discourage my son? Max is
passionate about music and I hope he always will be. A few more
sessions like this and I'm not so sure.
When you have a moment, would you just fill me in on what to expect
in the coming weeks. Will this man be there every week?
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Maureen (Max's mom)

I am a student major in percussion in Taiwan.
I really like your excellent performance and music.
I hope I could have the chance to learn with you.

10.13.07 | Bob Walton Mark. Hope your HAIRPSRAY gig went well...just a quick note. Still working on confirming actors. Acoustic piano guy is confirmed, and he has a drummer (and possibly bass) player that he's worked with a lot and would like to use him. I'll find out names for you---but I think it's a good idea if they have a relationship will make the their working together better. My big Tony award winners are probably not going to be able to do it---so I'm working on second choices. Also I don't know if you know Doug Romoff--he owns Harmony543 (I believe that's the right name) Studios on tenth and 43rd. My brother knows him and is going to look at the space--it looks AMAZING but will probably be way out of our price range. We'll see what he has to say. But I think come Tuesday latest, we should try to book the space and lock that in. I'll touch base with you on Monday. Hope all is well. Bob

04.13.07 | Antonio Merola Mr Sherman the memory of your concert to Salerno - Italy (03/06/07) still gives emotions to me. I have listened your CD One step closer and find it fantastic. Beyond the great technique there are all moods inside. Now I must listen "family first" and then I write you. The vibraphone is a wonderful instrument. Iam 17 years old and in summer I listen many jazz festivals with my father I hope to meet you there.

03.30.07 | Rick Holland Dear Mark....
My name is Rick Holland, I'm a jazz musician, educator. Recently I started a column reviewing CD's, located:
www.jazzradio247.com
I was wondering if you could send us 2 cd's for promotion and airplay? 247 has received nearly a half of million web-site hits in the last few months, and is broadcasting Jazz through the worldwide web.
We also interview artists played at 247, and I could send out some interview questions if you are interested.
Would love to hear from you, and wish you continued success.

01.29.07 | Bob Sugarman Mark: Some time ago, I got your name from a friend at Sony Music which I've represented for many years. I will be retiring from practicing law at the end of this year and one of the things on my "to do" list is to learn how to play the vibes. When you get a minute, I'd like to talk to you about this. No urgency since it's not happening until the end of the year, although I could start sooner. Looking forward to talking to you. Bob
